Sensors for the Robotics Industry

Compact proximity, magnetic and safety sensors for robotic cells, end-of-arm tooling and automated assembly. Fast response, IP68. Made in Mumbai.

Robotic cells put unusual demands on sensing: everything must be small enough to fit on moving tooling, light enough not to eat payload, fast enough to keep up with the robot, and safe enough to let people work nearby.

Sensing on end-of-arm tooling

  • Size and weight matter directly. Every gram on the gripper reduces usable payload and increases the inertia the robot must accelerate. Compact M8 and M12 barrels and small rectangular housings are the usual choice.
  • Cable management is the main failure mode. Continuous flexing at the wrist fatigues conductors. Route cables in proper drag chain, avoid tight radii, and consider plug-in connector sensors so a damaged unit can be swapped in a minute.
  • Part-present confirmation on the gripper is the single most valuable signal in a robotic cell — it prevents the robot completing a cycle with nothing in its jaws.

Cell safety

Where an operator loads parts into a robotic cell, a light curtain protects the opening while leaving it clear for loading. Because it cannot be left open the way a hinged guard can, protection is present on every cycle.

Mounting distance must be calculated from the robot's stopping performance. Have the installation assessed by a competent safety engineer before returning the cell to production.

Where our sensors are used

  • End-of-arm tooling — gripper open/closed, part present, tool changer locked.
  • Fixtures and jigs — clamp confirmation and part seating verification.
  • Cell perimeter — IR safety light curtains at the load station.
  • Conveyors and infeed — part arrival, queue and buffer detection.
  • Rotary and index tables — position confirmation via magnetic or inductive sensing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the smallest sensor you can supply for gripper tooling?

M8 barrels and compact rectangular housings are the usual choices for end-of-arm work. Tell us the mounting space, the sensing gap and the target material and we will recommend the smallest part that will do the job reliably.

Which sensors survive continuous cable flexing at the robot wrist?

The cable is almost always what fails first, not the sensor. Use plug-in connector versions so replacement is quick, route through proper drag chain, and avoid tight bend radii. Tell us the flex cycle count and we will advise on cable specification.
