The 4-wire capacitive sensor adds a second output to the standard capacitive design: normally open and normally closed states are available at the same time, from the same trigger point, on separate conductors.
Two outputs from one sensing point
Level control frequently needs both signals — one to start a pump and another to confirm the level state to a supervisory system or alarm. A complementary-output sensor delivers both without a second device, and because both derive from the same electrode there is no offset between them.

Why choose 4-wire over 3-wire capacitive?
Only when you genuinely need both switching states at once. If a single NO or NC output covers the job, the 3-wire version is simpler to wire and slightly cheaper.
