Inductive proximity sensors detect metal without touching it. A coil and oscillator create an electromagnetic field at the sensing face; metal entering that field induces eddy currents which damp the oscillation, and the sensor switches. They are the most widely used sensors in industry because they have no moving parts and are largely indifferent to dust, oil and coolant.
We build them from M8 up to M80 barrels plus rectangular housings, in DC and 230 V AC, with sensing distances from 1 mm to 50 mm and IP68 chrome-plated brass bodies.

Every product in this category can be adjusted to your application. Specify any of the following at enquiry and we will quote against it:
- Output configuration — PNP or NPN, normally open or normally closed.
- Cable length — 2 m standard, longer lengths on request.
- Termination — flying lead or M12 plug-in connector.
- Housing — chrome-plated brass, stainless steel, or rectangular block.
- Mounting — shielded (flush) or unshielded (non-flush).
- Supply voltage — 10–30 V DC or 230 V AC where applicable.
Frequently asked questions
What sensing distance do I get from each barrel size?
For mild steel targets: roughly 2 mm on M8, 4 mm on M12, 8 mm on M18, 15 mm on M30, 25 mm on M50 and up to 50 mm on M80. Aluminium, brass and copper targets reduce these figures to about 30–50%, and shielded versions read shorter than unshielded ones.
Do you supply PNP or NPN?
Both, in normally open or normally closed. If you are specifying from scratch, PNP is the safer default because it suits most PLC input cards sold in India today. Send us your PLC model if you are unsure.
Can these sensors handle coolant and wash-down?
Yes. The standard housing is IP68-rated chrome-plated brass, which is designed for coolant, swarf and wash-down duty. Stainless steel is available where the chemistry demands it.
Can you match a sensor I already have?
Usually. Send a photograph showing the body markings, thread size and cable, plus the machine it came from, and we will identify an equivalent.
